Crocheted Flowers
Sarah Newall crochets a floral still life. Analogous to acrylic paints possible status as a debased version of oils she crochets in acrylic ‘wool’ and not in the real thing. Her interest in Dutch floral still life is in their re-construction of reality. Out of season flowers were added later in their compositional construction and exotic and incongruous mixes of flowers were depicted without regard to nature other than it being a generality from which all things came and went.
